The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) has appointed Delta Built Environment Consultants (Delta BEC) to provide electrical engineering services for the design and construction monitoring of the Wits Brian and Dorothy Zylstra Sports Complex on the Parktown Campus. This is part of our three-year framework agreement, where we support Wits’s broader R500 million capital works program, delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure on time and within budget.
Key Services & Responsibilities
- Reviewing prior feasibility studies and reports.
- Planning, designing, and overseeing electrical installations in and around campus buildings (including MV/LV distribution, lighting, communications, data cabling, and alternative energy systems).
- Providing standard duties for new builds, refurbishments, and ongoing maintenance.
- Conducting condition assessments and specifying repair or maintenance procedures for electrical engineering works.
- Engaging external specialists as needed for advanced studies or design input.
- Assisting in tender evaluations to ensure best-value solutions.
By integrating technical expertise with forward-thinking sustainability principles, Delta BEC is helping Wits enhance both new and existing facilities, ensuring resilient, future-focused spaces that uphold academic excellence and comply with the Department of Higher Education norms and standards.
