Delta Built Environment Consultants (Delta BEC) was appointed by the University of the Witwatersrand’s Property and Infrastructure Management Division (WITS PIMD) to conduct structural and building condition assessments on 126 buildings across various WITS campuses through three projects. Each project had a consistent scope, which included specific investigations such as building condition assessments, heritage investigations, desktop geotechnical studies, and exterior environment assessments.

The project involved non-destructive visual assessments executed by the Delta BEC team, incorporating investigations, interviews, and site evaluations. These comprehensive assessments provided valuable insights into the overall condition of the buildings. The condition data was used to develop a lifecycle maintenance plan and associated budget in order for the client to make informed decisions on asset maintenance.
