Seriti Coal appointed Delta Built Environment Consultants (Delta BEC) to provide mine infrastructure support services for the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) of the New Largo Coal Project in Mpumalanga. Acting as a specialist sub-consultant, Delta BEC supported the lead consultant through the feasibility-level planning and design of the surface and bulk infrastructure required to enable future mining operations.
Delta BEC’s scope included the feasibility design and layout development of all mine site support infrastructure, encompassing access and haul roads, internal mine roads, operational platforms, workshops, offices, change houses, parking areas, stockpiles, fuel and service areas, and associated support facilities. The team developed engineering requirements for bulk and potable water supply, fire-water systems, sewage reticulation and treatment, stormwater and polluted-water management, dust suppression systems, waste management facilities, and clean and dirty water separation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
The electrical scope included the assessment and planning of bulk power supply options, substations, and on-site electrical reticulation, as well as coordination with utility service providers. Delta BEC also provided feasibility-level input for mine buildings, structural and architectural layouts, material handling and overland conveyor support infrastructure, and roads and transportation systems affected by the mining development.
All work was undertaken to BFS standards, integrating civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and operational considerations with environmental, safety, and constructability requirements. Delta BEC’s contribution supported the development of a coordinated, technically sound, and bankable infrastructure framework, enabling informed investment decisions and progression of the New Largo Coal Project.
