Delta Built Environment Consultants (Pty) Ltd (Delta BEC) was appointed by the Moretele Local Municipality (MLM) to plan the rehabilitation of the Ga-Motla illegal dumpsite. 

The appointment consisted of performing a Basic Assessment (BA) study with public participation, which included the detailed design of the rehabilitation of the site, hydrological and geotechnical specialist studies and a soil contamination assessment. Delta BEC was also tasked with obtaining environmental authorisation from the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (NWDEDECT). 

The authorisation included the removal and disposal of all waste on-site at a nearby compliant landfill site. The illegal mining pits were to be filled with soil from surrounding areas, and the area capped with 200mm of topsoil and hydroseeded to promote vegetative growth of indigenous grass.
