Delta Built Environment Consultants (Delta BEC) acted as lead architect and principal agent for Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) in delivering Naledi Clinic, a new primary healthcare facility that upgrades medical services for the Naledi, Soweto community. The project replaced an undersized temporary clinic with a purpose-built, SANS-compliant building that supports emergency care, mother-and-child services, and chronic outpatient treatment all under one roof.
Scope delivered:
- Full architectural design from Stage 1 – Inception through Stage 6 –Close-out, including contract administration.
- Coordination of civil & structural, electrical, mechanical and wet‐services engineering disciplines.
- Detailed room-by-room layouts, door/window schedules and finishes schedules compliant with SANS 10400 Parts A–XA and SANS 204 energy-efficiency standards.
- Construction quality management across three successive main contractors, incorporating remedial works and final snag clearance.
- Preparation of all Operating & Maintenance manuals, as-built drawings and certificates for handover.

- Concealed-fix metal roof and full-bodied porcelain floor finishes for durability and low maintenance.
- Strict adherence to revised fire and energy codes despite mid-project regulation changes.
- Integrated stormwater channels and new sub-soil drains resolve historical ponding at the entrance.
- Seamless commissioning: handover package includes monthly progress and inspection reports, snag lists, status quo and RFQ reports, plus a full set of as-built drawings.
