Project insights
Pikitup appointed Delta Built Environment Consultants (Delta BEC) to conduct a feasibility study and develop a master plan for all Pikitup landfill sites. This appointment included a wide range of professional services, such as planning, site inspections, and the development of a scope of work tailored to the project’s needs.
Delta BEC’s services focus on defining and identifying feasible projects within budget constraints through thorough consultations. Key activities included designing the height extension and closure design for the Marie-Louise Landfill site, conducting a status quo assessment, and performing a comprehensive cost analysis for Pikitup regarding the construction of additional waste transfer stations to compensate for the closure of the Pikitup landfill sites. This included a Construction Quality Assurance Plan and Environmental Management Programme.
Additional efforts included conducting a slope stability investigation, performing basic environmental assessments, and overseeing license applications with the GDARD. The project concluded with a comprehensive Landfill Master Plan that encompassed emergency plans, disposal and diversion strategies, gap analyses, and cost evaluations to develop viable alternatives, ensuring a sustainable approach to landfill management for Pikitup going forward.
